I have a strange little bump on my ear..?

Its like I have a rock built into my ear lobe, and it makes my whole side of my head hurt. Its small, but it has gotten bigger the past couple days..
Is it some kind of tumor and can it be cancerous or anything life-threatening?And how can I remove it?

Have you had your ears pierced in the area of this bump. It is normal when you get your ears pierced that a "little bump" forms in the cartilage. If the lump is caused by piercing your ears, you can massage your lobe to increase blood flow and that will help the small lump to dissipate.If not, you should go see your medical doctor. It is not normal for a lump anywhere to start growing for no reason. I really doubt that it would be cancer but you still should have it looked at and the doctor can remove it with little pain involved.

most times it's just a cyst (can't spell) it normally will come and go with how well you feel these are very common in women all over your body...if it become really painful or forms a sort of head (like a pimple would) then I would suggest a warm compress to make it feel better if it doesn't feel better in a day and you are still worried or it becomes red and inflammed lookign then yeah I'd go see a dermatologist about it...at the very least they can probably drain it for you so that it wouldn't be as painful..

Is your ear pierced? This happens to pierced ears sometimes. It's just a sack of puss that will eventually move to the piercing hole and come out. You can (slightly!) heat up a needle and stick it in your piercing and that will draw the puss out...or just use a warm compress (slower to work, but still effective) Unless your ears aren't pierced...then I've totally just wasted your time :)

Go to the doc, you could be in danger of becoming dehydrated. Get plenty of fluids, drink clear things such as club soda, ginger ale, chicken broth. You can't cure a stomach bug, it has to go away on it's own.

IF you have a really deep belly button it is probably a yeast infection. See your doc use the cream and you should be fine. And make sure that after bathing you really dry your belly button out to prevent it from happening again.

From your brief description, it looks as if you have AETP. don't be scared, it is short for acute exhudative tonsilo-pharyngitis. it is a form of acute tonsilitis, but some pus has developed, thus the yellow-whitish (exhudates) things that you see. the tonsils are lymph nodes, they serve to fight infection around the head/neck area.we have lymph nodes all around our bodies, some in the groin and the armpits. AETP is most commonly caused by bacteria called strptococcus, hence the term strep-throat. this condition is very uncomfortable, and in severe cases, the patient has a hard time swallowing soft food or even liquids. as some of our friends have stated, it is best for you to see a doctor, you may need a pain reliever and some antibiotics to hasten your recovery and prevent further progression. in the meantime, avoid sweets and cold beverages-these will aggravate your condition. hope this helps.

Sounds like a bacterial tonsil infection (strep throat, tonsilitis etc) Antibiotics are needed to clear the infection so a trip to the doc is needed...The tonsils are a disgusting peice of tissue when you actually read about what they do, BUT that said they are good to have.. Try some chloraseptic (sp) we got it in the states last time we were there, tastes like bleeeehh but does a good job of numbing the throat. or any other OTC throat lozenge that has anastetic qualities. Yeah, probably abreva. There is actually no cure for cold sores, just as there is no cure for the common cold. Some medications can help but time is the only cure.

Do you have a social worker? They should be able to tell you what programs are available for you. If your son is on Medicaid, look into Respite Care. This is where a nurse can come out to the house so you can get other things done. (I'm not sure if private pays for this too) This is where a social worker really comes in handy to help you set this up.

Doubtful that it's cancer. A friend of mine developed an infection in one of the glands that is under there, that sounds very similar. Make an appointment with your doctor to have it checked out and taken care of before it gets worse.The tumor I had never hurt when I pressed on it.

I doubt its breast cancer, but you should get it checked. I have had this happen to me once before, right after I shaved my underarms. It was an ingrown hair that got infected. This is fairly common, but if you are really worried, you should see your doc.

What you're describing is your lymph nodes or lymph glands.

This could be several things. It could be an ingrown hair, a swollen lymph node (which can be caused from a cold or even from smoking), or it could be something more serious. The best thing to do is to consult your doctor.

Also, just so you are not alarmed, it sounds like it could be a fibroma, which is very, very common in young ladies and benign. You still need to get it checked out.

it may be just a blister, i get them a lot from running. if it is only one red spot, then it could be possible it is a blister, you should probaly wait to get it checked. if it gets any bigger than it is already, it could be a wart or something. and if you touch it make sure you wash your hands so as not to spread it to the rest of your body.

If you had the flu or ate something you're allergic to that gave you the diarrhea, that is why you have the bump. It will go away on its own. If you continue having this happen with constant diarrhea, tell your doctor and you can be tested for allergies, among other things.

Your probably right, it does sound like a hemorrhoid. As long as there's no pain or blood, I wouldn't worry about it. There really isn't any way to get rid of it, although often they disappear on their own. If you still have it in a few months, or if it starts to bother you, talk to your doctor. I know it's a little embarrassing, but they see it all the time.

Not all hemorrhoids hurt. The best thing to do is soak in a warm bath. Also using a hemorrhoid ointment can help with the swelling.

you should see your primary care doc first, whether that be a family practitioner or an Internest it doesn't much matter. Your PCP will be able to decide whether the "lump" needs to be seen by a specialist or not. Somethings are very benign and very obvious such as small oral cysts, inclusion cysts or lipomas and need only reassurance. Some may be soft tissue masses and warrant further investigation. Your PCP will also be able to decide whether or not you need a specialist and who that might by by conducting a thorough history and review of systems. We have PCP docs for many reasons, and this is one of those reasons, so start there and good luck.

I was in hospital for 10 days I was diagnosed with what they said was a small kidney stone, I stayed in due to exteme pain and was descharged about 5 days ago without passing the stone. I was told to drink plenty of water which I have been doing but the stone has still not passed and I have noticed since yesterday that there are small white particles in my urine, I am concerned what can they be? Also I have felt alot of pain in my right kidney and abdomen today does that mean the stone is moving? I have also been urinating more frequently. I would be grateful for any info. Thanks.

The white particles could be uric crystals which form kidney stones. They could be small stones that were not able to be picked up on the x-ray. You're right in continuing to drink a lot of fluid. Yes, the stone could be moving. That's the only way for it to get out is to come out on it's own. If it were too big to pass, they would do a lithotripsy, break it up and then it would be in smaller pieces to pass. Additionally, now that you've formed a kidney stone, you'll be prone to getting them the rest of your life so even after this is all done and over with you need to continue to stay hydrated to keep the kidneys flushed or else crystals will form and new stones will form.

Ouch! I feel your pain. The white could be calcium or as a previous poster said, small stones not detected. You will feel pain as the stone moves, no doubt about that. Be glad it's moving, that means it's not stuck. Unfortunately, it will also eventually pass, and boy oh boy does that HURT, but it's such a relief when it's finally over.

These white particles are smaller stones that were not detectable in the original x-ray and or CAT scan. Keep drinking alot of water since that is the only way the stone will begin to move and be able to pass. Now that summer is only just a week away, you should drink all the time. Whenever you leave the house even for a few minutes, bring a bottle of water to drink. You are urinating more because your fluid intake is much higher then normal. That is normal, the more you take in ..the more you pee out.

Why don't you go somewhere to get your urine analyzed? Especially if you are in a lot of pain then the Emergency Department is the way to go...The pain from stones occurs when the stone gets logged in the ureter; it may or may not pass; if the stone is small as you said then it may be possible to have lithotripsy (one of the methods used to break down the stone into minute fragments that you can easily pass); you shouldn't just stay home and suffer; get some professional advice.It is impossible for anyone to tell you the composition of these "white particles" in your urine just by reading what you wrote; that is why laboratory tests exist.

First if you are concerned you should call your Dr. From my own experience... A kidney stone is a kidney stone, when it comes out they all feel like you are trying to pass a burr. I have been told that anytime the stone is moving they will cause pain. (I believe childbirth is less pain)I also have been told they take about 14 days to pass. If you haven't passed it by then they can go in and remove it. If you were in the hospital for 10 days, I wonder why they would have made to suffer through that and not just take it out when you were there. I'm not sure about the particles in your urine. Sometimes you can have what they call debris from the stone. If you are drinking allot that is why you are urinating allot.It is also hard to tell how many stones you have, the Dr. should have been able to tell you. You should drink more water because it helps your liver function properly. Try to eat properly as well and take a fiber supplement like fiber sure.

It's painless and not dangerous unless it become infected, then it'll feel hot to the touch. If it's soft and mobile, it's most likely a lipoma. My father has one. It's basically a grouping of fatty cells that have somehow organized themselves at that location.None of there are particularly dangerous, but if you want, you can go to your GP and have it looked at. S/he will decide whether this is something that should be dealt with. The lipoma is drained and occasionally returns, the cyst is treatable with meds and the bone spur (the least likely) is operable and is a 1-day job.Good luck.

Apart from occassional hives, you can't tell that there is anything wrong with my skin. But my arms and legs are extremely itchy all the time and especially at night. It could be that when you are washing clothes and bed linen you machine doesnt rinse properly, that will cause itching it happened to me and it was that.
Also check the washing powder to see if it is biological or nonbiological as one is prone to cause itching but I dont remember which.

Did you test for uric acid? The bad news here would be that you have hyperuricemia, if it's high. The good news is that you would have an answer for the itchiness and a plan to cure it. Hyperuricemia is usually solved by changing the diet %26 I've found the "gout diet" esp helpful. My right leg is slightly shorter than my left (1/2 inch to 1/4 inch approx differernce) I have always walked with my right leg, i don't know the word, oppoisiete of pideion toed. Occasionaly i will have a limp in that leg and now the limp seems to be coming more. I have taken to walking with my heel up so i don't limp. My mother says that not everybody has limbs that are exactly the same and to stop whining.

most people do have a limb that is longer or shorter than the other, but it doesn't usually cause them problems. i have one arm that is longer than the other. i would talk to your doctor about it. it's not good on your body to not walk naturally for long periods of time. you could throw off your hips and back eventually. i do believe that they make special inserts that you can put in your shoes that will make your legs the same.

sweetie they make shoes for exactly your situation. The have a slightly deeper part (more material) that is barely noticable (only notice it if looking for it). This is true for a lot of people. some will not admit to having this problem but a lot do. It is all about self consiousness. if you do not mind the limp it will not hurt you but if you do mind fix it with the special shoe or with material you can buy to stick in the shoes you already have!

I had a friend who had this poblem, in high school it became more noticeable. Her's was caused from having a serious illness like polo if I am recalling correctly...
You can have special made shoes or even an insole that will help a lot and even things out so you are not ruining your posture and causing more extensive irreversable damage!

The fact is that your problem is totally correctable with today's medicine. Get this fixed before you are 18. You should have insurance and if you don't I'm sure that there's help available. please do not worry, rattlers are more afraid of you than you are of them. A couple of simple hints:
1.watch where you step, be waware of your environment.
2.rattlers are cold blooded animals and seek out areas where they can warm their body (southern exposure hillsides) avoid those in the afternoon.
3. listen, they will warn you by rattling before they strike
4.stay on walking paths if possible
5.look before you reach for something to pick it up.
6.wear high-top hiking shoes and thick socks.If this makes you feel better, the great majority of rattlers will rather retreat than strike. If you notice one in your immediate environment, stay still, it will move away.do not know where you are going to be hiking, but in most areas you can call for help on your cell and request antivenin.
If you do get bitten (an this is very unlikely) make sure the bite site is below level of your heart, be still, rapid movements speed up blood circulation and thus speed spread of the venom. Most rattler bites are not fatal... but the person gets very seriously ill and requires immediate professional attention.

Try living in Australia, I know atleast 10 people that have been bitten by a king brown and will have nerve damage for the rest of their life. You have it easy in America lol :-P

Well, there is some reason you feel that if you close your eyes someone will get you. Whatever it is, you should talk about it to someone. If it becomes a regular problem then you should see a doctor and get some therapy (to help you find out why you have this issue). Sometimes talking about things will bring out why you have this fear. Could be a yeast infection (Candida) -- they are very common in that area. You could try over the counter fungal creams like lotrimin, but if that doesn't work, go to your primary care doc and get something specific to what your doctor thinks it is (likely a Nystatin cream or some such). It is important to try to keep the area clean and dry. You can't keep it from perspiring, but maybe using cotton underpants and just really trying to keep it dry might help. I had the same problem after a C-section with my son, and it drove me MAD. The nystatin helped. Good luck! -J

Use desitin or balmex on those areas while they're irritated. To avoid sweating in those areas, use antiperspirant in the folds and then balmex at night. I use it on all my patients who have large skin folds.

i'm 17 and I have a red face, its just always red ever since a couple years ago, theres no bumps or anything its just always really really red and its getting extremely annoying to live with, can anyone help?

You probably have a condition known as Rosacea. There's really no cure for it... Go see a dermatologist she may have laser treatment options for you. In the mean time, if it's bothersome, they have makeup to lessen the red appearance.

is that bad? go to the doc just to be sure if there is any pigmentation problem linked to that, if not you just have a red face..

This is a condition called Rocascia. You can ask your doctor to recommend products that will help with the redness. They make alot of products for such conditions that you can buy at Walgreens or Rite aide. Unfortunately there is not a cure but there are solutions to help with the problem.

Since you don't have any rash or bumps, then maybe you should get your blood pressure checked. I know a few people that have high blood pressure and their face is always red. You probably don't have it, but its worth getting it checked out.

I have the same problem as you (except I'm 14). I know exactly how you feel! My friends make jokes about my face and ears a lot. My ears usually look like they are on fire!
I am an easy going person and I try not to be bothered by it. I think I get embarrased easily, so that may help my face turn red, and I think I just have a lot of blood in my face. Try not to worry about it too much. Maybe try to stay calmer and relax more, but you should worry more about your outlook on life than your appearance. I hope this helps!

It could be coming from when you rinse off your hair products in the shower. Make sure you rinse your back very well and even scrub it with a long handled brush and no soap, last thing before you step out of the shower. Around the house, wear halter tops so you can give your skin as much air as possible. .

If you are talking about what are sometimes called liver spots, then saw remedy, but have not tried it so don't have clue if it works. Put on them combination horseradish and yogurt.

Possible. I started having bad hip pain when I began martial arts. I don't know if I turned the wrong way or my body was rebelling. Anyhow it hurt for like 3 years. I had a friend suggest I start taking gelatin. I took two in the morning and two at lunch for about two months. Pain went away. Now I just take two in the morning.

If it is financially possible, please go to the Dr. I understand it is hard on some people financially to go to the Dr. for treatment, however, in this case I would suggest going to alleviate the pain and worry.

Buy some lidocaine spray. I used one called Cool Blue Aloe Mist by Fruit of the Earth when I got a sunburn once and it really helped.

DO NOT SCRATCH IT!Try some aloe vera, if you've got it, and if it's still really warm put a cool rag on it or take a cool shower to cool off. If it hurts, take pain relievers. Those should help immediately. If it's really bad, you might need to go to a doctor to have it checked out.

Try some baby powder to sooth the skin, also put some on your sheets, rub it into the sheets, than shake. That should help you sleep, so you don't feel like your sleeping on sand paper

lots of lotion, Alvera gel and this may sound crazy but my kids just had bad sunburns and i gave them a luke warm bath with a cup of vinegar in it, it takes the pain away and draws out the heat and it really works if you can withstand the smell!

Try mixing 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water in a spray bottle. Spray as often as you need.

If it is still a "fresh" sunburn, this will help: pour some vinegar into a bowl, add some water until the smell is dilluted enough for you to be able to put it on your body without killing flies for 3 miles). Then, soak a washcloth in the mixture, apply the washcloth to the burned area for 15-20 seconds. Pull of, wring out, repeat. It pulls the heat out and prevents the skin from continuing to burn. It works like a charm. If your sunburn is past the hurt stage and in the peel/itch stage. . . there's not much to be done. Drink tons of water and apply aloe gel and/or vitamin E to your skin.

If it is sunburn, aloe vera really should clear it up.
It might not be sunburn though, did you consider that it might be an allergic reaction or poison ivy, or perhaps that combined with sunburn?

If you've been walking in or near a woods or thick grassland recently, then it's probably poison ivy or poison oak. Sounds a lot like poison oak. I've had it before. If you want to scratch it (which you will), make your hand into a fist and slowly and gently rub with the knuckle where it itches. To treat it, use Calamine lotion.Gently rub over where it itches. After it's been applied, DO NOT SCRATCH IT. Let the lotion absorb into your skin. Don't wipe it off with a towel.Try to apply this at least thrice (three times) a day. It should be gone in no time! Hope this helps!

Listen to what she told you to do. Rubbing Alcohol dries up the lesions the best I have found. You can apply a band aid over it to prevent it from spreading.

Take Benadryl, they also have a cream esp. for poison ivy. it will help.hope you feel better.

hey.try to stay cool the heat will only make the itching worse...um...put some calamine lotion on it that should help the itch although it will make your skin a pinkish color. try not to scratch as well...scratching will only burst open the tiny blisters and cause the ivy to spread...which will lead to a bigger area of rash. and i'm not entirely sure about this but when i was little and i had a rash or whatnot my mom would have me take an oatmeal bath. now i know it sounds gross but it felt really good and once i rinsed off afterwards it was amazing...you can probably find oatmeal bath things at a store. The bath should help to dry out the poison ivy in time.but once again i'm not 100% postive of the affectiveness of the oatmeal bath. I know i used it as a kid and it worked then...well good luck and i know all of the other ones work.

the rash started on my elbows and behind my knees. it has now spread up my thigh and up my arms. i havent been ill. the rash is very itchy and feels like goosebumps. u cant actually see it unless i have been scratching it for a while. i havent changed anthin; washin powder shampoo soap. i have taken anti-histamines (sp) they havent helped and tried kalamine lotion, another no goer. any clues?

It is probably one of these things... (all very similar in nature)1. eczema - inflamed or irritated skin that gets red and itchy
2. psoriosis - a condition where the skin get dry and irritated.
3. foliculitis - iriitated skin or hair folicules.
4. an allergy to something - food or environmental.and this is what you should do.1. use some over-counter cortisone cream from the pharm., continue with benydryl or claritin as well.
2. if that don't work, or if you are curious, see a dermatologist or allergist.
3. stop scratching.

i used to have the same problem!! it turned out to be eczema, it was a nightmare!! try using E45 cream, i found this really helped. if that doesnt work try canesten, it has some sort of steroid in which helps repair the skin. good luck! :o)

Sounds like to me you have a case of heat rash. Some cortizone cream will get rid of all that. Try putting some powder on in the places that moisture can build up when its hot outside. ex: behind ur knees, in the bend of your arms, around ur thighs where your clothes rub. That will help in kepping the moisture out. Benadryl with help with the itching too. Make sure to check with a doc. if none of this works. They may give you something stronger.

It is possible that it is not any of the conditions listed, such as psoriasis etc., but it sounds like it is irritating enough for you to want help for it. Go to your clinic, or see your Doctor.

I do have moderate eczema, but I can tell this is something outside of the normal eczema breakout. It's very rapid moving, having spread from the fold of my inner elbow to all up and down the length of my arm within about five days. Could there have been any mice in the basement that may have carried something to you? I would also consider an allergy to dust mites, especially if you already have a skin reaction (eczema). Have you tried taking any vitamin C for the inflammation? If it does not improve, go to the doctor.

I had a similar sounding experience last year. It was cellulitis (swelling of skin and follicles hence the goose-pimple look). On top of the cellulitis I had a staph infection. It made me feel ill and ended up in the emergency department twice cos I didn't get the medical help soon. Whether its something like that or a insect bite, you should get medical advice and treatment. Don't put it off like I did or it may get worse. i've heard that works, but you may want to buy a tube/jar of zinc oxide. worked like a charm for me during high school and it isn't expensive.

My valve area was 2.3cms.This year soon after having a very heavy meal the echo gave a reading of 37mm and 32mm.I'm going to another hospital to have a transoesophageal echo in June.I feel terrified that that my pressure gradient increased so much.The doctor said not to worry as I have no symptoms,stenosis or regurgitation but I'm afraid to say I still have sleepless nights.Last year the doctor said weight training,yoga and running was ok but now nothing is allowed.Would having an echo directly after eating a heavy meal cause this increase or is it due to my exercises.The doctor said Japan is quite medically advanced but I'm very down.

the baby could get thrush, which is a yeast infection in the mouth, that's about it!Let me clarify. when you take amoxicillin, you are able to get a yeast infection, amoxicillin does that to many women. When you are breastfeeding, it is possible for you to get a yeast infection in your breasts. If you have a yeast infection in your breasts and then feed your baby, it is possible to transfer your infection to the baby, in it's mouth. A yeast infection in the mouth is called candidiasis, or thrush. And no you don't have to be on an anti-biotic like amoxicillin for months or years (as one responder stated) to develop a yeast infection. And by the way, who in the heck would prescribe amoxicillin for that long?! It would cause you to be immune to antibiotics! hello! wow, she should rethink her major! When I was pregnant they gave me amoxicillin for a uti and I got a yeast infection from it, it happens. If your child were older, then yes you would feed him/her yogurt with live active cultures. Apparently some responders didn't read how old your baby is!! One still thinks you are pregnant! You cannot feed a one month old yogurt!! On the other hand, you should consider eating yogurt though because it will decrease your chance of getting a yeast infection altogether, therefore preventing it from ever being an issue for your baby. The actual drug amoxicillin will not harm your baby whatsoever. The yeast is a suprainfection or basically a side effect of the drug. It consists of very red, constantly flaking skin. The skin on the person's hands is rough and crackily like rhino hide and the CONSTANT flaking is all over everything, because the skin disorder/condition effects the entire body. About 6 years ago someone stepped on my toe and it badly hurt. The edge of my nail broke off, but it was okay. From that day on, I have had a problem with my toe. I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like your toe is healing incorrectly. More than likely from your toe being stepped on and the edge of the nail breaking off (if that is the case). The best thing for you to do is to see a doctor about this as soon as you can. Just because it's not hurting you doesn't mean that the threat of something serious is not there (i.e. gangrene)

I had mine done in the doctor's office with liquid nitrogen. The stuff you are using at home might not be strong enough to take care of yours. Most plantar warts have several of the black dots, so don't worry about that. :-)

Try visiting the doctor. That's what I did. They tried to freeze it twice and it didn't work so they numbed me up and just cut it off. I didn't feel any pain at all afterwards. Just tell your doc that the freezing didn't work, he'll know what to do.

Have you tried this stuff called PRID? ( I hope I spelled that right) It is sold over the counter and it "draws" the stuff out. I had a big problem with plantar warts and was seeing a doctor who just kept me coming back . His assistant would use some kind of little dremel tool to grind away at the things. This was very painful and did not help a thing. Finally I went to this old foot doctor in another town. He took one of those long q-tip things and put some of that on it. It went away! I saw this doctor ONE time!!

The black dots are the plantar wart's blood supply. The wart is claiming your foot as home. You will want to have a doctor work on it. Plantar warts are very stubborn and usually very difficult to treat at home on your own. Since you are now developing more black dots your wart is taking hold and claiming a blood supply. I think it will take medical help to get your feet wart fee. Good Luck!

Do not squeeze at it.Just grab a cotton ball or soft wash cloth and clean it with warm soapy water. It may continue to puss a little here and there, but keeping it clean and not picking at it will help it heal faster.

put an ice cube on it, and some paper towel to catch the drips under your chin
the ice will contract the capilaries that are bleeding

Leave it alone. Clean well with soap. Use an ice pack to calm the inflammation. Get an acne topical drying agent (Burt's Bees Dr. Burt's herbal blemish stick is good) and use that over the top. It'll heal up over 2-3 days.

First of all, Do Not Squeeze it. Doing so will irritate it and possible cause infection. What you could try is what I used to do. Apply hot compresses to speed up the rate at which is comes to a head and pops itself. Also use a good astringent cleanser and wash your face with a gentle soap. Stay away from greasy foods and eat a well balance diet. Wash your face at least twice daily to keep the pores of your skin free of dirt and don't wear heavy makeup. It will clog your pores. If a warm compress doesn't work try using a heating pad wrapped in a protective cover. It will give a steady heat instead of cooling off right away.

Put honey on it and cover with a band aid, this will help with the forming of a "head" DO NOT SQUEEZE OR PICK! you will get scars. Just keep washing and covering. wear it to bed and when you are at home.

If you have to look great for something and its a red irritated bump it sounds funny but put hemeroid cream on it. Its made to reduce swelling.

Try putting alittle toothpaste on it when you go to bed. It will help dry it up and bring down the swelling. Dont forget to wash your face as often as possible.

Oh don't you hate those? They're like beacons shining for
ships at sea, don't you think LOL? I get the hard ones every
once in awhile,and I always use just plain rubbing alcohol on
a cotton ball a few times a day, and at night. I have had them

But the redness will fade if you keep applying the alcohol

Get a really hot wash cloth and cover the pimple, keep getting it as hot as you can stand it and reapplying it, this will help bring it to a "puss cap", and then you can get rid of it.

Get a very sharp needle and sanitize it by using alcohol then prick the top layer of skin with the needle. This will help the pimple to drain faster. It's sort like a fluid filled cyst.If you drain the cyst it won't be as large and will heal faster.

It is good you have an appt. with a Neurologist: Just guessing of course, but I would guess, Temporal Ateritis---Blood work and other symptoms will zeron in. Quite often SED rate (blood work) will reveal a higher than normal sedimention rate.

Yes you could. Flank pain is one of the main symptoms of a kidney infection, as well as pain in the lower abdomen. With a bladder infection generally painful urination occurs but it does not always occur with a kidney infection. If the pain is continual and does not go away after a few days, you need to see the doctor. (meaning if you divided it in half, a symetrical mole would look the same on both halves, the asymetrical mole would not). B- is the border of the mole irregular? C- is the mole several colors (darker and lighter brown, black, red or some such?)So if your mole is asymetrical, with irregular edges, and of several colors, RUN to the doctor. Hey. Its hard to say without seeing the mole... Can you look in the mirror and see if it looks wierd? Is it deformed, or a particularly odd color? Theres always some good medicine for the sniffles and cold. You should take an OTC (OVER THE COUNTER) drug that has some dextromethorphan and some guafanesin in it (ex dayquill). This combination will help help as an expectorant and to get some of that nasty phlem you got hanging around but for tonight go and get you some benadryl its got diphenahydramine which will make ya have a good nights rest. I would not suggest taking the benadryl during the day or while driving cause for some people this drug hits hard and knocks ya out. Hope you feel better and hope this helps

Dayquil does a really good job of making the symptoms tolerable during the day...unless you're like me and react funny to it. I personally like sudefed, clears up my nose. Other than that, lots of rest and lots of fluids.

Best thing to do, sweat it out, go running, sit ups and drink fluids, take hot shower, then keep active, it should flush out of your system soon, promise! SWEAT, SWEAT, SWEAT!!! Drink orange juice too, has vitamins to speed up your immune system!!!

The drawbacks are that this may take up to 6 weeks for the full effect and some do not find it effective at all. Your best bet is to put yourself under the care of a physician for more effective prescription therapy.

Watch putting anything on the affected skin that may casue worse skin iritation or breakdown, this could make it worse.Carsaicin cream derived from hot peppers was first used successfully to treat shingles pain before being applied to other types of pain as well. If the pain is unrelenting a doc may prescribe neuromodulatory meds like tricyclics.

Shingles is caused by the reactivation of chicken pox when your immune system is compromised, usually in old adults, people with organ transplants, AIDS, are on immunosuppressive therapy, etc. Best treatment is to improve your immune system if possible. If you are young, without any immune suppression, and show up with shingles, I would get an HIV test as this is most often the reason for your shingles.

About nine months ago, I got sick. I had a swollen lymph node in my armpit, severe pain all over my body, and intense headaches. Three months ago, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Since the diagnoses, I have developed more symtpoms. I have rectal bleeding, excessive urinatian, a large growth in my vagina that hurts when I try to insert a tampon, and twitches in my limps and muscles that I cannot control. I'm thinking that the original diagnoses may be wrong. Are the symptoms serious enough to have a trip to the doctor? My next appointment is in september, and I think I should just wait until then. For extra info, I'm 14, and, obviously, a girl. I take 3,200 mg of ibuprofen every day, if that has anything to do when anything.

Yes you need to go to the doctor! 3,200mg of Ibuprofen a day can be the cause of your rectal bleeding. That is a dangerously high dosage! It can destroy your kidneys and may have already began doing so. I have Fibro it is very painful,but you need proper meds that will take care of the pain without putting you on a kidney trans plant list. the excessive urination may be from the growth in your vagina that needs to be checked too. Your symptoms of rectal bleeding are serious enough that you should have an appointment in the morning and be sure you tell him how much Ibuprofen you have been taking so he can check for kidney damage with blood tests and get you on a better stronger med for pain. Those symptoms are too severe, I'd play safe and go visit the Doc earlier - very few medications come without side effects (and they will vary greatly in severity from person to person).If it's the medication they can put you on to something different or at least investigate further, you shouldn't be suffering all these discomforts. 3200 mg of ibuprofen is insane! I would never take more than 800 mg and even that can cause stomach bleeding. Ask your doctor for proper pain medication and medication to protect your stomach lining.PS. You are probably low in iron now due to taking so much ibuprfen. If it is low, ask to see a specialist to make sure you don't have anemia of chronic disease.

Hey, sorry to hear this! Can't you declare yourself sick and go home? That's what a common cold is: a sickness. Your co-workers will appreciate it too!
A cold will last for 7 days if cured and a week if not. But theraflu and sudafed will make you feel better during the first couple of days. Dont overdo it though because they contain paracetamol which is hard on the liver. Lay off nasal sprays because those will make your headcold chronic.

Watch out for neurological symptoms (changes in vision and speech, weakness or numbness - especially on 1 side) Only take anti-epileptic medications if you do develop seizures, there's no evidence they need to be taken profilactically. If you feel depressed, tell your doctor to have it addressed - untreated depression worsens the outcomes. There's no need to add mental suffering to the physical. Always have you medical infromation with you when you go places.

My lymph nodes swell in my neck when I'm sick. They change sizes. However you should call your doctor and make an appointment for a complete physical and make sure you mention the node thing. good luck.

I had a problem that sounds similar years ago, it kept coming and going and changing size, finally a specialist recognized it as a calcified sub-mandibular gland and it was surgically removed, apparently these are pretty commom, check with your Dr about it

It will need to be examined to determine a diagnosis. It could be a swollen lymph node caused by an infection somewhere in the body and your body is fighting it. Or it could be cancer . . doesn't have to by lymphoma cancer. Any metastatic cancer can show up as a swollen lympth node. My sons abdominal sarcoma metastastized to his lymph nodes. He was diagnosed using a swollen node from his neck. Go get it checked as soon as possible. Good luck.

All lumps should be checked by your doctor whether you think they are serious or not, because you never know what is lurking about. Most lumps are harmless, but you might get the one that is not.

If it's in the fold of your leg where the thigh meets the pubic area it's probably a lymph node and should be checked out. It could be a symptom of something but the only way to tell if cancer is present is for them to biopsy it. It could also mean infection. It could also be nothing at all.

"There are a variety of breast diseases, ranging from infections to excessive cell growth (neoplasms). Unfortunately, many breast diseases mimic the symptoms of cancer and therefore require tests and possibly surgical biopsy to obtain an accurate diagnosis. The majority of biopsies are found to be benign (non-cancerous) forms of breast disease. While most breast diseases are not dangerous in themselves, they may increase the risk of developing breast cancer. Hyperplasia, cysts, fibroadenomas, and calcifications are the common benign breast diseases.
Calcifications

I have been through it a number of times. I don't ever remember it being painful at all. It is most likely just a cyst. They just remove the fluid that has collected and it is all over with and it feels so much better after it is finished.

Hi there! Please relax. I had the same thing done a few years ago. Thank God, benign. I understand they usually are. Now I have to get a mamo every year.
How the dr. did mine-he had me go to an unltra sound tech at a women's center near the surgery building, got a samll needle to numb my breast, the needle with a hook to show the dr. where the lump was - was inserted (you might feel a little pressure-no pain) (and don't look if you don't like needles). It was taped into place, then I went to the surgery bldg., and got into a gown, went into the prep room, got an iv, then walked into the surgergical room (it's cold in there!) and then they got everything all set up-a drape was placed over my head to not see anything, got to listen to music, and talk with the dr. and the nurses while the biopsy was being done. I was thankfully doing well enough, I went into recovery, level 2 so I got some pop and something to eat, and was told before I got dressed to leave it was benign!
It depends, though, on the dr. and how they do this procedure. I had a friend who had it done with ultrasound,m wasn't numbed, and they inserted the needle on the side of her breast (where there was a lump) and it hurt her some. So, please ask your dr. how it will be done, and all the details to help you be prepared.

yes love i have been there and done that. like you, i was scared to death. they scheduled me for surgery to go in and take a look at the lump (it was very small almost marble size to the touch). they made the incision(cut) around the dark part of the nipple(no visible scar) and he said when he touched the thing it burst. done deal...i pray this information helps to calm you. if they say it's probably nothing they're probably right. they were in my case.

Do not worry, 90% of these are cysts. I like you have been through it. Had a bath one night, did my self exam, ran screaming from the bath woke my Mother up and said 'I have a lump!' Mother replied 'You will need to see the GP in the morning, go to bed!' Mother used to be a Nurse! I saw the GP, he telephoned the Hospital, within half an hour I was in with the SURGEON! Bet you I was SCARED! I mean a SURGEON! Anyway he examined me and then said 'I am going to stick this in and see if I get anything out!' So he did stick it in and he got a lot out! He then said 'I am not even going to bother testing it, a cyst, you can go now!' That was it. Unfortunately it came back and this time he decided to operate. He removed a 'cluster' of cysts, sent them away, they were benign and that was it. Outside of the fact I went from 34D to 34A, I was relived. You might try singing. I don't mean in public but at home when no one is around. Sing a long with a CD you like that is in your range. It all has to do with practice. I have a low THS (.04) and the dr thought I had hyperthyroidism, but T3 & T4 are ok. What does this all mean?

My mother, all five of her sisters and my grandmother on the other side all have thyroid problems, so I wasn't too shocked when it was discovered that I have a low THS level (ranges between .01 and .04 instead of being between .34 and 5...). My T3 and T4 tests came out good, though. So, what is the THS test, and what does it mean for my health condition and treatment? I originally went in because of lower-back pain, but I assume this is unrelated.
Answer:
There are two different types of tests for T3 and T4. One checks the levels of free T3 and T4, meaning the amount in your bloodstream. The other checks the levels of T3 and T4 that are bound, meaning the amount that is unavailable. If the overall THS is low, but the amounts of free T3 and T4 are normal, it means that your body is getting and using a normal amount without being stimulated. It probably will not be treated unless complications or symptoms occur.

TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is a hormone that is release that causes your the release T3 and T4 from your thyroid. In hyperthyroidism people typically have low TSH and high T3 %26 T4. Normally (with not thyroid issues) TSH causes the release of T3/T4 but in your case you are releasing T3/T4 without TSH which is considered overactive thyroid. Now in your case you have normal T3/T4 levels with low TSH which doesn't necessarily suggest hyperthyroidsim (to have hyperthyroidism your T3/T4 levels should be higher) - so you may just have "pre-hyperthyroidism" - this may just indicate that you may develop a thyroid problem(like the rest of your family) which can be treated with medication.

On the contrary, my TSH is normal (1.9) but my T3 and FT4 are high so I'm experiencing hyperthyroid symptoms. To further confuse the issue, I am actually taking medication for hypothyroid (because at one time my TSH was 161). So I'd venture to say that if you're not experiencing symptoms of hyperthyroidism and your T3 and FT4 are good, you're okay for now. You're smart to watch it though and always consult with a doctor. Problems with your thyroid effect almost every function of your body...especially with a family history - keep watch!

I have these too...and i went to the doc today and found out it is a rare skin condition that goes away in about 4 weeks call Pityraisis Rosea. I made a topic on this so you can view my questions or not. There's no cure for it, so you'll be stuck with it for at least 4 weeks. If you don't have that then..your so lucky! lol...well all i can do is say go to WebMD or google and search heat rash and Pityraisis Rosea just to be sure. My mom says it's a sty or something like that but I don't know what to do about it. I tried popping it, but it hurts REALLY bad lol. It looks kinda like a pimple except its white and it's NOT a wart. I am positive of that. What can I do about it? Home-rememdies or something like that? Is it something serious I should have the doctor look into?

well,i actually have one of those right now and it hurts like crazy! i went to the doctor and he told me it was a sty too! what he told me was to warm up a towel or something, and put it on your eye for 10-20min. then 2 hours later do it again!By 2 days of doing that it will pop and stop swelling and go back to normal! HOPE THIS WORKS!

It's probably a sty. You cannot do anything about it except go to the doctor and he can give you some eye drops or something. My friend used to get those all the time. Your best bet, aside from going to the doctor, is just to wait for it to go away. DO NOT squeeze it. It is not a pimple so it will not pop.

It could be an infected ingrown hair or a skin tag(usually skin tags aren't painful though). But anything near the eye should get checked out asap just in case.

Probably just a zit. Do the imposible and leave it alone. If it does not go away in 10 days have your mom ask the DOC to see you. LEAVE IT ALONE!

No matter how tempting it is, do not try popping it. Try to wait for a couple of days and see what happens. If it seems to be getting worse (without you trying to pop it) then you should see a doctor. good luck!

If it is a sty keep your hands off and use a very clean hot wash cloth, repeat (heat in micro for double warmth)
10 minutes on 10 off as much as you can - also there is a sty cream at the drug store in the eye section apply it at night with clean hands.
If it's above your eye I'd say it's more of a large pimple or cyst.
If its not better by Tuesday. Have your mom call the MD
You can apply the warm wash cloth to that too.

it's most likely a stye which can be treated with an over the counter stye medication. If you are concerned, then go to the doctor and get a prescription..

You need to get referred to an ophthalmologist to get a diagnosis - no-one here can see your eye, so at best we're guessing.
My guess is that it could be a cyst of moll - it happens when the small sweat cysts at the margin of the eyelid and eyelashes gets blocked, and can grow to become noticable sometimes. Usually harmless, they're not treated unless they cause discomfort. They can be excised.

It could be anything from a zit (acne spot) to something a lot lot worse... my friend had that and it was skin cancer. I am NOT NOT NOT suggesting that is what it is (before people react badly, I am just showing the 2 extremes), but where your eyes are concerned, you can never take any risks.Please go to a doctor! :-)
